Coconut Rehabilitation & Replanting Programme Launch (East)

July 28, 2016:-The Ministry of Agriculture, Land and Fisheries, launched its Coconut Rehabilitation and Replanting Programme in the East Coast of Trinidad on Wednesday 27th July, 2016 at the Ministry’s Marper Farm facility located in Manzanilla.

The objective of this programme is to develop sustainable coconut-based enterprises (with emphasis on tender coconut water production) in the East coast of Trinidad through the rehabilitation and replanting of some 900 acres (364 hectares) of coconut.


Senator the Honourable Clarence Rambharat delivered the feature address. Also delivering remarks were Mr. Selwyn Brown, Agricultural Officer I and Ms. Albada Beekham, Technical Officer (Crops).


Following the Opening Ceremony, farmers were delighted to receive planting material to assist them in their role of rehabilitating the coconut industry.
