September 7, 2016: Beekeepers in the Caribbean face several challenges to maintain vibrant and productive colonies. But there are also opportunities to boost the sector. These are just some of the issues that will be discussed at the Eighth Caribbean Beekeeping Congress, themed “Connecting the Caribbean through Beekeeping”.
The event will be held at Rovanel’s Resort and Conference Centre in Store Bay from September 12-16.
There will be a queen-rearing course from September 9-11 for attending beekeepers. And following the congress, there will be an Africanised Bee tour of Trinidad from September 17-18.
Beekeeping Associations will also discuss strategies to advance the industry, and promote interaction and camaraderie among the region’s beekeepers.
Anyone seeking further information on the Congress and beekeeping course can call 868-682-9467 or send an email to caribbeanbeekeepingcongress@yahoo.com.
