September 7, 2016: Drainage, roof repairs and air conditioning are just three area earmarked for improvement at the Whim Community Centre, which is one of several community facilities being upgraded.
Community centres in Hope and Goodwood are also getting facelifts, along with seven Y-Zones and two pan theatres. Neil Alleyne, Construction Engineer at the Division of Community Development and
Culture, Tobago House of Assembly gave an update on the works being done at Whim.
“We are doing some repairs to the roof, we are sealing the area, we would be air conditioning the hall space, at Hope we doing similar works…” he said.
There will also be drainage works at the Whim Community Centre to prevent flooding. Two Y-Zones in particular will need to be rust treated and repainted.
“These Y-Zones were done in containers,” Alleyne explained, “and after a number of years of use, we have some issues that would have arisen, especially Speyside and Argyle because they are open to the Atlantic.”
