September 13, 2016: A delegation from the Presbyterian Primary Schools Board of Education met with the Honourable Anthony Garcia, Minister of Education and senior executives of the Ministry on Tuesday 13th September, 2016 at the Education Towers, St. Vincent Street, Port of Spain.
During the meeting, Minister Garcia reiterated his commitment to work with the Presbyterian Board to resolved existing problems at the Princes Town Presbyterian #1 Primary School. He also reminded them that the school was condemned by the Ministry of Works and Transport (MOWT), and the Ministry of Education could not act without the Board’s input. He said, “The Ministry of Works is the authority that decides, so we cannot disregard it.”
The Presbyterian Primary Schools Board of Education will meet with the Parent Teachers’ Association to decide a way forward. A subsequent meeting will be held with the Board and the Ministry of Education in early October.
The delegation from the Presbyterian Primary Schools Board of Education consisted of the Moderator of the Presbyterian Church in Trinidad and Tobago Reverend Annabelle Lalla-Ramkelawan, Chairman; Carlyle Mulchan and members; Lennox Sirjuesingh, Carlos Lakhan and Vickram Ramlal.
The Ministry of Education’s delegation also included Permanent Secretary Angela Sinaswee Gervais; Chief Education Officer Harrilal Seecharan and Advisor to the Minister of Education, Cheryl-Ann Wilkinson among others.
