October 20, 2016: A release from the Petroleum Company of Trinidad and Tobago Limited (Petrotrin) dated October 19 stated that they were advised that 'the Oilfield Workers’ Trade Union (OWTU) has served Notice to take Strike Action to Inland Offshore Contractors Limited (IOCL) indicating this action becomes effective 2016 October 20 from 10:00 am'.

IOCL is one of the three main contractors providing marine transport to Petrotrin’s Trinmar operations.

Reliable transport is critical to ensuring Petrotrin's effectiveness in servicing their offshore installations the release indicated.

In this regard, 'Petrotrin is therefore monitoring the situation closely and contingency measures will be implemented as required to limit the impact of the expected disruption in service. In light of the low oil prices and the need for Petrotrin to sustain and increase its current oil production levels, the Company will do all in its power to manage this situation in order to fulfil its obligations to all stakeholders'.
