October 24, 2016: The Joint Select Committee on Local Authorities, Service Commissions and Statutory Authorities (including the THA) has commenced an inquiry into the regulation and licensing of medical doctors by the Medical Board of Trinidad and Tobago.
The Committee is inviting all stakeholders and interested persons to submit written comments/suggestions/recommendations related to the subject of the inquiry.
The objectives of this inquiry are:
i. To understand the systems and procedures employed by the Medical Board and its Council to execute its mandate;
ii. To assess the practices and procedures adhered to by the Medical Council in relation to disciplinary proceedings involving medical doctors;
iii. To assess the criteria, standards and procedures in place for hiring foreign Doctors and monitoring their performance;
iv. To assess the systems in place to protect patients against malpractices by Doctors
THE DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSIONS IS FRIDAY NOVEMBER 04, 2016
