The Ministry of Sport and Youth Affairs (MSYA) joins Trinidad and Tobago in extending congratulations to our athletes who competed at the 2018 IAAF World Indoor Championships, held in Birmingham, England last weekend. The games which were hosted by the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) saw a strong contingent of Trinidad and Tobago athletes competing in various events.
Trinidad and Tobago quarter-miler Deon Lendore copped this country’s only medal this time around as he placed third (3rd) in the Men’s 400 Meters Finals. He managed to finish the race in a time of 46.37 seconds.
In addition, Team TTO continued to shine as the 4x400 Meters Men's Relay team comprising of Deon Lendore, Jereem Richards, Asa Guevara and Lalonde Gordon secured a new National Indoor Record time of 3:02.52, which allowed them to place fourth (4th) in the finals, while Michelle-Lee Ahye finished sixth (6th) in the Women's 60 Meters finals.
The MSYA congratulates Team TTO on their accomplishments and is indeed proud of the performances displayed at the IAAF World Indoor Championships. As we continue to promote development, total participation and excellence in sport, the MSYA continues to stand with and support our athletes as they continue to represent our Trinidad and Tobago with great pride.
Well done Team TTO!
